Happy hump day! I’m beyond excited to finally share my home decor! We recently moved to a bigger high rise (two bedroom) and I’ve really enjoyed getting to decorate. In our last apartment, we didn’t have a dining area so it was really hard to do any formal entertaining. So we are really loving getting to host dinners and have people over, something we couldn’t really do a whole lot of before. Not to mention we love to cook, it’s one of our favorite things to do together! We get a bottle of wine and grab the cookbook and try something new. Alex is an amazing cook, he makes dishes that should be on the food network I swear! Me on the other hand… I’m getting better with time! Alex thinks I’m a great cook so that’s all that matters I guess!
Now back on topic! Alex and I both really love ultra modern decor (obviously, lol) and it was very important for me to create a space that wasn’t overly girlie, and very clean. Our place still has a very feminine touch, but Alex actually picked out most of the bigger pieces, and I decided on the accents. That way we both played a hand in decorating and making it our own. He was very involved and pays close attention to detail, so if something we ordered online didn’t look just as great when it arrived he would say, “look at the way the metal is bent, or this has a scratch on it.” I would have never noticed otherwise but he’s very meticulous. So we had to return quite a few items and order replacements!
I added gold objects and accents throughout our place and lots of fresh flowers. I love hydrangeas because they last forever! You just have to remember to keep refilling with clean water because they drink A LOT. I usually re-fill my vases with water about twice a week and the hydrangea’s end up lasting me about two-three weeks! It also makes a huge difference where you buy flowers from on how long they will last. The Randalls by my house has the best hydrangeas and they are only $10 for a huge bundle. So shop around in your area to find the best ones, and remember price doesn’t equate to quality.
I spend a lot of time each day in my office so I really wanted it to be very inspiring and cozy. I’m usually planning shoots and all of my blog outfits in my office, so it can get a little messy. Admittedly, I struggle the most with this room and keeping it tidy. But having a clothing rack has helped tremendously, even as cliche as it is being a blogger and having one, they serve a purpose. It makes organizing for shoots so much easier as I’m able to separate everything from my closet that I need for the shoot. I can’t tell you how many times before having a clothing rack that I would show up to a shoot and had forgot something.
Hope you enjoyed todays post! Be sure to look under each photo for product links or scroll below!
